Raven's Point

Word traveled that there was trouble at the raven shrine in the depths of Tyria. I spoke with Olrun Olafdottir who confirmed the rumors. She told us that Captain Sargen and his dwarven unit who entered the shrine soon encountered destroyers. Xapp, their hired asuran engineer, had fled to seek aid. That was more than enough information to catch my attention, so Malory and I picked up Xapp, who was cowering by the entrance, and entered Raven’s Point.

Varajar Fells

Shortly before the exploration of Varajar Fells, I had met with Olaf Olafson here to gain his aid in the battle against the destroyers. He wasn’t interested until I mentioned that the destroyers were a good hunt. Then we entered the depths to clear destroyers out of norn lands and prevent them from coming through an asura gate located there. So now that my task to gain norn allies is complete, I will be wrapping up my exploration here soon.

From Olafstead, I spotted my friend Elwin L, and a new female elementalist from Ascalon: Elena D. She was enthusiastic about helping out because she was a fan of my “work”. I’ve given a copy of some journal entries to my friends, but I was a bit surprised to hear it had gotten more attention. Anyway, we headed out to explore the last area in the Far Shiverpeaks. Just beyond the gates of Olafstead, I noticed a family of yaks by the cliffside.

Darkrime Delves

At Volsung’s Stead, Malory and I talked with Kolgrim Bainright and Einarr Frostcleft about their jotun problem. Well, more like I interrupted their arguing over who was more worthy to slay the great jotun. I don’t think they trusted our group to get far, but at least we’d clear a path for them.

Bjora Marches

Not long ago, I helped Jora eliminate the charr living on her homestead in Bjora Marches. There is a lot of work to be done, so she doesn’t mind accompanying us throughout Tyria. I thought it would be a shame to explore this area without Jora, so along with Elwin and Xiara we left the comforts of Longeye’s Ledge and explored the Bjora Marches.

Frostmaw's Burrows

At the northern edge of Jaga Moraine, there is a group of norn talking about giant wurms outside the gates of a dungeon. Their leader, Latham told me that Frostmaw killed his brothers and that I was welcome to join in their hunt. So along with the norn adventurers Kitta, Gareth, Hroth, and my mesmer friend Malory K. we entered the Depths of Tyria to seek revenge.

Jaga Moraine

Out of all the norn I’ve met so far, Sif Shadowhunter is my favorite. I love meeting her challenges and then spending a good afternoon having a heated conversation about our accomplishments. She certainly hasn’t killed any gods, but that doesn’t stop a norn from finding something to boast about. Today’s exploration of Jaga Moraine will get me one step closer to gaining her respect, as I continue to slay the legendary foes of the Far North. So with my friend Elwin, we left the outpost and began our journey.

Sepulchre of Dragrimmar

I spotted a passage that leads into the Depths of Tyria earlier during my exploration of Drakkar Lake, but didn’t investigate it until now. Two dwarves: Outrunner Remlok and Sage Bollnar stand by the passage waiting for brave souls to help them. Inside this Sepulchre of Dragrimmar lies the legendary Anvil of Dragrimmar, said to have been used by Droknar himself to craft wondrous weapons. Of course this anvil was heavily guarded, so I brought along a powerful mesmer to keep the awaiting ice elementals frustrated while I fill their bodies with arrows. Malory K. presented himself as an invaluable asset, I hope this is the start of a beautiful friendship!

Battledepths

I’ve yet to finish helping the norn and gaining their trust, but Ogden insisted I visit the Battledepths. King Jalis Ironhammer and the other dwarves are waiting for us there until we can amass an army against the destroyers. With such short notice, I was only able to persuade Kudos S. W. to come along with me. Everyone else must have been too busy buying “consumables” or working hard to buy a new set of vanguard or norn armor.

Heading west from the Eye of the North, we entered the Battledepths. At first it’s quite dark, and then not too much farther along sunlight beams in. Aside from the underground passage way outside Kaineng City, I have yet to explore the many Depths of Tyria opened up to us.

Drakkar Lake

On my first pass through this area to reach Sifhalla, I was surprised at how massive the area seems to be. I wondered if all of these “new lands” contained areas with borders as big as this. For a while I was worried that no other adventurers would want to accompany me in the quest to explore every corner of Drakkar Lake. Luckily my friends Elwin and Xiara felt like taking on a challenge.

Right outside the gates of Sifhalla there is a large entrance into a cave system and another path that leads into open wilderness. I decided to revisit the cave before exploring the rest of Drakkar Lake.

Norrhart Domains

When I entered the Norrhart Domains for the first time, I met Jora, the norn hunter from Boreal Station, on her quest to track down the nornbear. It made sense to help her, since we needed the norn’s help against the Destroyers. Plus I’d rather have the norn as allies than enemies. Our quest took us to Gunnar’s Hold, a massive norn hearthstead (outpost) owned by a famous smith: Gunnar Poundfist. There we were given further advice to seek out Sif Shadowhunter’s help with tracking the nornbear.

With a bit more time on my hands, I took the opportunity to explore the Norrhart Domains on the way to Sif Shadowhunter’s hearthstead, otherwise known as Sifhalla. Even though there is much to do (and to buy) in these newly discovered lands, my friend Elwin L. took time out of his day to accompany me into this unforgiving frozen wilderness.

Ice Cliff Chasms

After the events of Nightfall, I returned to Cantha and enjoyed a overdue vacation. Of course, evil can only stay quiet for so long. It all started with a series of earthquakes all over Tyria that left large crevasses leading into the uncharted depths of Tyria. There we encountered dwarves. The one who seemed to lead them was Ogden and an asuran named Vekk. We couldn’t chat for long because as we entered the crevasse, we were chased by bloodthirsty beasts that Ogden called “destroyers”. Luckily Vekk took us through an “Asura Gate” and we landed safely in Boreal Station, an outpost in the Far Shiverpeaks far beyond the Northern Wall of Ascalon.

To keep the destroyers from following us, Vekk destroyed the Asura Gate in Boreal Station. Here we also met our first norn, Jora. Ogden seemed ready to attack the giant warrior, but she had no intention of fighting us, because there was “bigger prey” to hunt. Before she left our sights, we also learned that there were humans living in the Far Shiverpeaks. Boreal Station had many adventurers from around Tyra who found themselves here through some of the many crevasses that opened. I spotted my old friend U. Loreal, and a guild member Turiel L. and invited them to join me in exploration of the area outside: Ice Cliff Chasms.
