The Arid Sea

Until now, all of my treks though the desert have been mostly enjoyable. However upon entering The Arid Sea (via Vulture’s Drift), I found the sun to be blindingly bright and its heat testing my endurance. Once again, Erolin is helping me explore this area. She seems to really enjoy revisiting Tyria.

Not far from our entry point, we spotted this massive giant’s skull. The sight of it made me feel somewhat uneasy about what this area had in store for us.

Skyward Reach

For the exploration of Skyward Reach, my long time friend and native Tyrian, Erolin is joining me. This area has a lot of history, and it leads to many other areas within the Crystal Desert.

When arriving here for the first time, my eyes were drawn to a large inaccessible area with a strange platform and stones with glowing runes. Later on after completing the three desert missions, I found out that this is your final ascension challenge in Tyria. Coming from Cantha, I had already gained the gods favor and could access The Mists, by becoming closer to the stars in Nahpui Quarter. However I believe it is much more challenging to achieve ascension in Tyria, and it’s easy for me to understand why so many have died trying to ascend.

Vulture Drifts

When I asked some of my friends to help me explore in the desert, I expected them to swiftly decline! So I was pleasantly surprised when both an old friend of mine and a new one offered to help out so readily. For today’s exploration of Vulture Drifts, I’ll be accompanied by Satan The Sin and Aeoea X.

Prophet's Path

After fully exploring the Maguuma Jungle, it is time for me to set foot onto the Crystal Desert. I usually do not take a lot of time preparing for these trips, but you can’t forget to bring anything when you’re in the desert! It’s also important for me to wear my hunter’s mask at all times, so I do not breath in crystal sand particles that make up the desert floor.

Adi and I departed from Amnoon Oasis, and set out to uncover the secrets of Prophet’s Path. Immediately after slaying some scarabs, we found the huge bones of an ancient Giant.

Tangle Root

At long last, I’ve come to the final explorable area of the Maguuma Jungle: Tangle Root. Funny enough, I think the outpost that joins Tangle Root, the Henge of Denravi, is more well known than this area. Henge of Denravi was once a secret meeting place for the druids a long time ago. Until the Shining Blade recently discovered a way into the outpost, it remained untouched by humans for many years. I always enjoy visiting the Henge of Denravi but, as many adventurers will tell you, it is incredibly easy to get lost inside there.

For this adventure, my old friend Erolin, and two newcomers Nax and Demia are teaming up with me to explore Tangle Root.

Dry Top

Dry Top shares the same landscape as Ettin’s Back, and also shares many of the same monsters but with the addition of behemoths.
Adi is joining me again, and brought along her friend Paul to explore as well. I didn’t make a big fuss about preparing for this area, as I know from other adventurer’s stories that is it a small place.

The Falls

Continuing onward from Reed Bog into The Falls with my friends, Erolin, Nox, and Smars, we set out to explore the Maguuma Jungle’s most secluded area!
In many ways, when you enter The Falls it looks no different from places such as
Silverwood and Reed Bog, but the true beauty of this area lies far into the jungle.

Reed Bog

Today’s exploration will be a lot of fun because I get to meet Nicholas the Traveler, and my friends Erolin, Nox and Smars are accompanying me!

Upon entering Reed Bog, we had to fight many trolls, scarabs and spiders. Further onward, a large amount of glowing druid houses were spotted. My friends and I wondered if this was a city for Druids at some point.

Ettin's Back

I’m not sure where this area got it’s name (Ettin’s Back), because I’ve yet to see one Ettin in the Maguuma Jungle! This area is characterized by long stretches of dry land, and is the location where I first encountered Ventari in his small outpost: Ventari’s Refuge.
Even though my friend Adi has fully explored this area before, she is joining me to help share some stories and perhaps find something new!

Silverwood

Unlike most of the areas I have been to so far, the Maguuma Jungle can be very hard to navigate through. With paths leading to dead ends, and vine bridges going over areas you need to get under! So when Nox and I started exploring the Silverwood, I made sure to check my map often to avoid getting too lost!

Mamnoon Lagoon

The Mamnoon Lagoon is one of the more secluded areas of the Maguuma Jungle. It may seem like a peaceful and serene location at first, but you’ll quickly be ambushed by wind riders!
With me is Nox, the quick thinking and hex-happy necromancer. In our travels I’ve often seen her use some mesmer spells to combat and interrupt enemy casters! Always a wonderful addition to my party.

Sage Lands

If I had to sum up the Maguuma Jungle in one word, it would be: mysterious. Long ago, a group of humans known as “druids” lived here, but left without a trace! Their whereabouts remain unknown, but through my travels I may stumble upon some clues.

As I was packing up my things to explore the Sage Lands, a young necromancer by the name of Lotun asked to accompany me. I’ve hardly ever turned down an offer for help, and sometimes it’s best not to refuse the help of these dark spellcasters!
