Zinn & Thackeray

Besides the war in Kryta, a few other news-worthy events have occurred recently, such as the trial of Zinn.

I am personally very good friends with many important Asurans, most of which were at the trial today. However the manner in which they organized and carried out the trial is unfair. I suppose the White Mantle would rejoice at the no-nonsense approach to punishing the guilty, but even a Kaineng City bureaucrat would oppose these Asuran methods.

In less than an hour, they put together a trial and found Zinn guilty, mostly due to “Reckless instigation of mayhem WITHOUT a permit”. The punishment agreed upon by the Arcane Council was banishment from all Asuran areas for 10 years. My thoughts on this punishment are mixed. If they wanted to keep him out of trouble they should have just imprisoned him, because now he can roam freely and cause more problems. On the other hand, the trial was a sham and no one should have themselves judged in such a way.

Revisiting Kryta (Part 2)

With the knowledge that “Peacekeepers” were aiding the White Mantle in disposing of my allies the Shining Blade, I began my hunt for them in earnest. Firstly I went to the Temple of Ages where I paid my respects to Princess Salma and asked if she had any information regarding these troublemakers. She informed me that these Peacekeepers have been causing problems for the people of Kryta and asked me if I had seen Brother Mizar, as she wanted to speak with him before she left.

Perdition Rock

Far away from civilization lies the Ring of Fire, a chain of islands to the south of the Maguuma Jungle. I have only been here once before on my way to put an end to the Mursaat and the Lich. Everyone is familiar with those tales so I will not go into details. I’ve come back here to fully explore the area and share the experience with my friends Forbidden V., Azrael, Terry , Claire, Luky and N. Squirrel.

Sorrow's Furnace

This is not the first time I have been to Sorrow’s Furnace. While traveling the Shiverpeaks, I helped the dwarves with a few tasks involving this area. This time I thought I would fully explore this curious place. I decided to put together a team of expert adventurers to accompany me. Erolin, Forbidden V., Goober K., and N. Squirrel were the lucky (or perhaps unlucky) souls willing to help out with my final assault on Sorrow’s Furnace. Besides exploration, our main objective was to defeat the Stone Summit’s dreaded Iron Forgeman.

Entering Sorrow’s Furnace, we were immediately drawn into battle with some Stone Summit Dwarves and their Dredge slaves. The interior of the cavern was filled with all manner of dwarven machinery and grim looking architecture. The air is filled with a strange and pungent odor, undoubtably caused by all the mining. Everything I was sensing told me to leave immediately, but at the same time I felt an obligation to prevent the Stone Summit from becoming a menace like the Charr.

Grenth's Footprint

With my friends Kaileen and Claire, we sat around a campfire in Deldrimor Warcamp to discuss exploring Grenth’s Footprint. This area and its passage way into Sorrow’s Furnace are somewhat new to us, and it was decided that they would only help me for the first area. Not knowing what lay ahead of us I think it’s the best plan for success. Although funny enough the very same outpost that we are in was originally setup by the two Marshalls as a camp to explore the Shiverpeaks from, and was only recently rediscovered.

Revisiting Kryta (Part 1)

I first heard rumors about a Shining Blade camp in the outskirts of Kryta about two weeks ago. So I packed my things and traveled there to investigate these rumors.

Listening to some tips I started exploring the (location removed for their safety) again and nearby the village I found earlier there were Shining Blade guards at a bridge. They recognized me as a hero and ally of the Shining Blade and were happy to let me in their camp.

Lornar's Pass

Erolin and I finally reached Lornar’s Pass after fully exploring Dreadnought’s Drift and Snake Dance. I expected to be tired from walking all the way here, but I felt invigorated and eager to take on whatever this area has to throw at me. While I had focused my thoughts on battle, Erolin pointed out a massive shrine to Grenth ahead of us, but expressed her opinion that we should visit it after completing our expedition.

Dreadnought's Drift

Dreadnought’s Drift is a small area but packed with enemies. Knowing this, I waited a few moments when I reached the end of the passageway from Snake Dance. My patience paid off when I noticed a dozen Tundra Giants pass in front of us. If Erolin and I had continued forward we would have had to deal with those Tundra Giants and a large group of Blessed Griffons as well.

Snake Dance

I have been dreading this moment ever since I arrived in the Southern Shiverpeaks. Exploring Snake Dance itself does not bother me, but to easily access the two areas beyond it, Dreadnought’s Drift and Lornar’s Pass, I must continue on my journey immediately after I finish Snake Dance. Knowing that no one in their right mind would accompany me on this painfully long trip, I begged my good friend Erolin to join me once again. Of course she was hesitant at first, but after mentioning that her heroic deeds would last forever in my epic diary: A Tyrian Odyssey, she accepted.

Mineral Springs

Continuing on with my friends Angela, Kaileen, N. Squirrel, and Azrael we arrived in Mineral Springs to find a much different atmosphere than Tasca’s Demise. The sky is much clearer and this not only lets us see around us better, but also put us in a much better mood. It gives me the feeling that maybe the Southern Shiverpeaks isn’t out to kill us after all. *laugh*

Tasca's Demise

The small but still quite dangerous area I’m exploring today is known as Tasca’s Demise, so named after the famous explorer: Marshall Tasca, who fell off a cliff somewhere in this very area. Even though I am originally from Cantha, I heard of his journey across most of Tyria while training on Shing Jea. It is people like Marshall Tasca and Marshall Whitman that inspire me to keep exploring the world we live in and taking risks in doing so. I can’t say it’s the same for every adventurer I’ve met, but many of my friends look up to them as well.

Needless to say, a few of my friends were more than willing to help me explore this area. Kaileen, N. Squirrel, Azrael and Angela all wanted to make sure I didn’t meet the same fate as Marshall Tasca.

Spearhead Peak

The further I explore into the Southern Shiverpeaks, the more I come to appreciate the few outposts in this region. Some areas are without any, and travelers must go further to reach these isolated areas. Luckily Spearhead Peak is in the middle of two such outposts: Copperhammer Mines and The Granite Citadel. When asking my friends to accompany me on my expedition I also reminded them of this fact, and Adi, Forbidden V. and N. Squirrel decided to join me.

Ice Floe

In contrast with my journey into Frozen Forest, when I announced to my friends that I was setting up to explore Ice Floe, hardly anyone wanted to join me. Only the brave monk B. Angela volunteered to assist me in my quest to explore every corner of Tyria. Not that I can blame anyone for wanting to avoiding this area. There are rumors that aside from the masses of Ice Imps, there are also some Mursaat lurking about here as well.

Frozen Forest

As I go deeper into the Southern Shiverpeaks, I find it increasingly difficult to explore while dealing with monsters and the harsh climate. This along with word of my exploits, attracted some of my guild members to help me explore Frozen Forest. And so, Cookie, Pau, Forbidden V., R.T. Sunshine, and Prom. E.T. joined me.

After quickly disposing of some Imps and Avicara, we came upon this area with familiar Dwarven architecture. It is pretty well known that Dwarves build sound structures, but that makes me wonder how long will these will last. In a thousand years, will humans have forgotten the Dwarves? Even if they have, will they still see these Dwarven structures?
